National Service Scheme, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. of India, popularly known as NSS was launched in Gandhiji's Birth Centenary Year 1969, in 37 Universities involving 40,000 students with primary focus on the development of personality of students through community service. Today, NSS has more than 3.2 million student volunteers on its roll spread over 298 Universities and 42 (+2) Senior Secondary Councils and Directorate of Vocational Education all over the country. From its inception, more than 3.75 crores students from Universities, Colleges and Institutions of higher learning have benefited from the NSS activities, as student volunteers.

Two Units of NSS are functioning in the college. Dr. Sahar Afroz is the Program Officer of unit I and Dr. Anjani Kumar Program Officer unit II . Some recent activities of the two units under the proficient leadership of the two are :-
Special camp organised from 30.08.12 to 05.09.12. Health and Hygiene awareness spread amoung civilians.
- World Peace Day organised on 01.10.12.
Volunteers selected at university and state levels to participate at National level in New Delhi on 26th Jan 2013.
The Department of Higher Education, Govt. of Bihar has selected G.D. College Begusarai as a Nodel College for the distribution of dress and bicycles amoung different schools of Begusarai district . A list of 60 NSS volunteers is to be submitted to the Govt. to supervise this task.
